Line 2—also known as the Røabanen / Furusetbanen—runs from Østerås at one end to Ellingsrudåsen at the other, connecting 23 stations. The line crosses the central shared corridor between Majorstuen and Tøyen, where all five lines meet.
Oslo’s subway system began as the Holmenkollbanen in 1898 and was Northern Europe’s first electric commuter railway. Line 2 was integrated into the current subway system in 1966.
