Station, line, walking time and exit — the complete guide.
Get off at Frognerseteren station (Line 1). From there it is a ~3-minute walk to Frognerseteren and the gateway to Nordmarka forest.
Frognerseteren and all of Line 1 lie within zone 1 — no extra ticket is required.
Alternatively: Holmenkollen (Line 1).

Overview
Frognerseteren is the terminus of Line 1, high above the city at 435 metres. The historic timber restaurant from 1891 is famous for its view, apple cake and hot chocolate, and the station is the gateway to Nordmarka — Oslo’s vast forest and outdoor area, with hiking trails in summer and ski tracks in winter. The toboggan run down toward Midtstuen also starts here.
The whole ride on the Holmenkollbanen is within zone 1, so you only need an ordinary metro ticket. From the station it is a short walk up to the restaurant and viewpoint.
Many combine the trip with a walk through the forest to Holmenkollen, or a coffee break at Frognerseteren before taking the metro back down. The viewpoint right by the restaurant is one of the finest in the whole city.
